Jay Granzow

Seroma Versus Lymphedema

Dr. Jay Granzow is an internationally respected lymphedema surgeon.  He serves as Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, and Assistant Chief of Plastic Surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  He is Board Certified both in Plastic Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery. A pioneer in lymphedema surgery, Dr. Granzow successfully integrated lymphedema therapy with three types of lymphedema surgery including vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNT), lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) and suction assisted protein lipectomy (SAPL).  He has published major scientific articles on lymphedema surgery in leading medical journals.  Dr. Granzow is a frequent lecturer at U.S. and international conferences, educating patients, therapists and physicians on the latest advances in lymphedema surgery as part of a holistic approach to lymphedema care.  Dr. Granzow provides lymphedema treatment for patients in his private medical practice located in the Los Angeles area.

Andrea Brennan

Evaluation

Andrea Brennan, OTD, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, CI-CS, WCC  earned her bachelor of science degree from Emory University and Tufts University in occupational therapy.  As an occupational therapist since 1978, she gained a wealth of experience working in acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health settings and outpatient settings in Arizona. Andrea began her lymphedema studies as early as 1996. She received certification in the Casley-Smith International Lymphoedema treatment method in 2000, also successfully completed certification through the Lymphedema Association of North America (LANA). In 2010, Andrea began a mission to spread awareness and education about lymphedema. Patients conveyed their disappointment in other healthcare providers who failed to understand the complexity and impact of their lymphedema-related problems. She furthered her education by completing her post-professional clinical doctorate in occupational therapy in 2012, with emphasis in health services administration and lymphedema management program development. 

During 2014, Andrea was selected to become a certified instructor in the Casley-Smith treatment method. This training took her to the University of Glasgow UK to be mentored. Upon her successful completion of this training, she created the Brennan School of Innovative Lymphatic Studies, which spearheads evidence-informed training and certification in lymphedema, lipedema, venous insufficiency and chronic swelling. As an instructor in the Casley Smith Method, she offered the first lymphedema training course in the Philippines where the number of lymphedema therapists tripled in the country. She was asked to conduct another training session to build upon the initial course and offer an update course to existing therapists. Furthermore, this summer, she will provide training to therapists in the Casley-Smith method as an affiliate of University of Southern California at the Fujian University of TCM and its affiliated hospitals Fuzhou, China.  Andrea is frequently invited to speak on chronic edema and lymphedema management as well as other related clinical topics. She presented and published on diverse topics in lymphedema management on a local, national and international level; Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin and Wound Care; the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Annual Conference; Fat Disorders Research Society, Latin American Venous Forum, International Lymphoedema Framework and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. She authored a chapter in the Core Curriculum for Phlebology Nurses. Furthermore, each year she volunteers with Amigos de Salud, an international lymphatic and phlebology organization, offering treatment in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Professional memberships include the International Compression Club, the International Lymphedema Framework and Casley-Smith International.

Andrea is a clinical specialist employed at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Scottsdale in Arizona offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient chronic edema and  lymphedema services, including aquatic lymphatic therapy. She lives with her husband, Joe, now empty-nesters, in Scottsdale, with their doodles, Majestic and Miracle.

Julia Osborne

Manual Techniques

Julia Osborne, BSc(Hons), PT, CLT-LANA, has been a Physical Therapist for 19 years and has practiced in hospital and outpatient settings in South Africa, England, and the USA.  In 2002 Julia received her certification in lymphedema management from the International Dr. Vodder School of Manual Lymph Drainage and became specialized in the area of oncology rehabilitation, including oncology post-surgery care, post-radiation care, rehabilitation during chemotherapy and lymphedema management.  Once she had specialized in Oncology Rehabilitation, she realized it was her passion and this, combined with the need for rehabilitation services within the oncology community, she established Oncology Rehab in 2009. By 2014, the clinic had 10 oncology and lymphedema specialists and had become one of Denver Colorado’s only dedicated Oncology Rehabilitation clinics.  

Julia is well known for her public speaking internationally at Oncology Conferences, Cancer Support Groups and Cancer-based Hospital Systems.  She is an affiliate faculty member at Regis University in Denver, CO where she does instructional and clinical teaching in oncology rehabilitation for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  Julia is also a national clinical instructor for North American Seminars and, throughout the United States, extensively teaches fellow colleagues in the combined and integrative clinical processes of physical therapy and oncology rehabilitation.

Kitiboni Adderley

Compression Strategies

Kitiboni (Kiti) Adderley, PT, DPT, CLT is a physiotherapist, health coach, educator, and mentor who focuses on cancer and diabetic rehabilitation. She is a dedicated professional with a magical touch. Combined with her knowledge and experience, she is a highly specialized manual therapist, trained in myofascial release and the McKenzie Method. Kiti is also certified in pregnancy massage and is a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor.
 
Kiti is the senior therapist at Handling Your Health Wellness and Rehab, which she opened in 2014. Prior to opening the rehabilitation business, Kiti spent four years at Doctor’s Hospital Health Care System in Nassau, Bahamas. Her podcast “H.E.A.R. (Health Education Awareness and Rehabilitation) Caribbean” highlights advice from medical and wellness professionals, and offers educational information on various health concerns. Kiti is a professional advisor of The Bahamas Breast Cancer Initiative Foundation, the One Eleuthera Foundation and a Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer educator. She has served as president of The Bahamas Association of Physiotherapists for four years and currently represents The Bahamas at the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.
 
Kiti is married and the mother of three daughters. She enjoys immersing herself in nature, traveling, experiencing other cultures, reading, cooking and crafting. Her quiet time is spent meditating or practicing yoga.
