The NLN is thrilled to announce the debut of the NEW Lymphedema Awareness Butterfly Pin!
Gradually becoming a nationally recognized symbol for lymphedema awareness and the inspirational movement behind it, the transformational butterfly represents the journey of lymphedema over the past 15 years, from complete obscurity to the gradual light of awareness that is beginning to shine on this largely unrecognized and under-treated epidemic.
Designed by Jeanne Tassis (who chose the butterfly as the symbol for lymphedema awareness and created the first pin), Mitchelle Tanner (NLN Assistant Director) and Cheryl Feeney of Healing Ribbons, the pin is a smaller, more detailed version of the original butterfly pin. The new pin features both ribbon and butterfly in finely polished silver steel with sleek turquoise enamel on the ribbon. Our first all-in-one butterfly pin, its petite dimensions and tasteful design are perfectly suited for both women and men of all sizes, young and old.
By wearing our pins, we are making the butterfly and turquoise ribbon a universally recognized symbol for lymphedema awareness, in the same way that the pink ribbon symbolizes breast cancer awareness and the red ribbon, AIDS awareness, and making a difference in the lives of millions of lymphedema patients by creating awareness about this long-overlooked and often disabling condition — one person at a time.
