A Message from Karin Douglas, Lymphedema Activist:
After advertising the LYMPHEDEMA ALERT Bracelet in the NLN Newsletter, many patients with lymphedema of the lower extremities called and wrote to the NLN with the question: "How about us? Will you have something to alert healthcare providers about our condition?"
It took some time, effort and interviewing patients with lymphedema of the lower extremities to come up with a proper solution. The NLN and I are pleased to offer the LYMPHEDEMA ALERT Necklace. Like the bracelet, the necklace is made of jewelry-grade, non-allergenic stainless steel.
The small charm has a nicely crafted medical alert symbol on the outside, and on the flip-side are engraved the words: "LYMPHEDEMA ALERT", "LEFT LEG" (or RIGHT LEG, BOTH LEGS, to be specified when ordering) and "SEE WALLET CARD".
A wallet card, furnished with each necklace, is set up to focus on the limb(s) which need(s) special care, should the patient require medical attention while unable to communicate directly with healthcare providers or emergency staff.
