The National Lymphedema Network (NLN) Board of Directors and Scientific Conference Committee invite you to attend our 10th Biennial NLN International Conference: Research RoundUp. This year's conference promises to continue a tradition of offering the best in education, clinical intervention and evidence-based strategies, networking opportunities, and most importantly, the latest research.
This year's conference will take place at the brand new Omni Dallas Hotel, in Dallas, Texas, September 5-9, 2012. The hotel offers a lavish setting for all conference meetings and serves as a luxurious place to unwind and mingle with friends old and new. The city is known for its arts worldwide, but also for its dining and shopping extravaganza.
The conference offers a full and comprehensive program that will peak the interest of participants with all levels of experience. Professor Hildegard Wittlinger, world renowned pioneer in the field of Lymphology, and founder and senior director of the Dr. Vodder Akademie in Walschsee, Austria, will be our Sunday Keynote Speaker with her lecture, "The Wittlingers and the Legacy of Emil Vodder". Research is at the forefront of the NLN conference, and we are honored to have Dr. David Zawieji as one of our Keynote Speakers who will share his latest research in the Generation and Regulation of Lymph Flow. Additionally, in keeping with tradition, we will host the Saturday Luncheon to honor our Keynote Speaker, Dr Frank A. Vicini a Radiation oncologist. The Plenary sessions, led by a list of distinguished speakers, will present the latest investigations in the field of Lymphology. To honor the importance that research holds to promote the field, awards for one Best New Investigator and one Best Career Investigator will be presented to acknowledge outstanding individual research efforts. We will be joined by leading industry representatives who will showcase their latest innovations. They will be ready to answer your questions and help you meet your medical needs.
Pre-conference includes the consistently well received Physician Intensive, the Skin and Wound Management Boot Camp, and welcomes back a hands-on Compression Strategies for the Advanced Therapist. The 2012 conference will also introduce two new and exciting sessions: Dr. Kathryn Schmitz will discuss Exercise Strategies for Lymphedema and Dr. Henna Kalsi will elaborate on Congenital Lymphedema and Peripheral Vascular Malformations.
Instructional sessions will offer the opportunity to delve into multiple and widely varied areas of interest. There are clinical sessions that are focused on particular regions of the body, as well as sessions that address the innovative interventions and advanced treatment techniques. For those who would like to further their administrative skills, the conference offers sessions on insurance, documentation, and guidelines on how to develop an interdisciplinary lymphedema program. Seasoned therapists can take advantage of sessions that discuss treatment approaches for patients who concurrently are challenged with comorbidities such as obesity, physical disability, and lymphovenous dysfunction. There are additionally sessions that explore treatment strategies for patients in the palliative care setting and patients who are homebound. Last but not least, there are sessions available for personal and clinical growth: avoiding personal burnout, differentiating edemas, and developing research competence.
The Lymph Science Advocacy Program (LSAP) has proven to be extraordinarily successful in supporting the efforts of the NLN and the field of Lymphology as a whole. Five newly chosen delegates comprised of patient advocates or caregivers will be granted the same opportunity as healthcare professionals to attend the conference so that they may make a difference in their unique ways.
We will be joined by leading industry representatives who will showcase their latest products and innovations. Industry plays a huge role in the success of the Conference, and they will be ready to answer your questions and help you meet your medical needs.
On the cusp of this 10th Biennial Conference, we are proud of the role the NLN has played in developing the field of Lymphology. We hope that you will join us and we look forward to seeing you all in Dallas!
